Current Issues Zine

The students learned that part of being designer is being a storyteller with the ability to convey meaning through images. For this project they selected a political issue, environmental issue, health issue, safety issue, social issue, ect. that they felt committed to bringing awareness towards to inspire change through the creation of a zine.

A zine (pronounced "zeen") is a self-published, non-commercially printed work (or sometimes digital work) that is typically produced in small, limited batches. People who create zines (called “zinesters”) are likely to be more motivated by expression and passion than they are by profit. Zines content may be written, drawn, printed, collaged, or any other form of combining words and imagery—a zine’s structure may be narrative, journalistic, comic-like, or completely abstract.
