Experiential Graphic Design/Walnut Shelter
Branded Environment for the Walnut Shelter
Playgrounds and shelters are public gathering places for families and individuals. They are the heart of the community, where people gather, interact, learn and socialize with others regardless of their background and abilities. I chose an existing place, Walnut Shelter at Miracle Park at Inis Grove in the City of Ames. My proposal is to extend the idea of being inclusive from the playground to the shelter, and the path leading from the parking lot to the shelter and the playground. The purpose is to promote the idea of connecting people with the shelter and adding brand identity to the space, and to enhance interactions between visitors and their environment. This will allow people to interact with the place using their smartphones and make an experiential and branded environment at the shelter. I propose placing signage that would brand the park as well as provide a code, which, when scanned by a phone with the Zapper app, would allow welcoming and interactive activities to appear in 3D on the screen.
